Yamatonokami Yasusada is one of the two protagonists of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru.

Yamatonokami was forged by a swordsmith of the same name in the year 1655. Sometime later, he came under the possession of Okita Souji, who he was fond of and looked up to.

Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru[]

Yamatonokami arrives at the citadel in the first month of the year. He quickly becomes accompanied around the citadel by another former sword of Okita Souji, Kashuu Kiyomitsu, and the two become friends.

Mutsuki (睦月)[]

One morning not long after his arrival, Yamatonokami accidentally gets hit by a snowball thrown by Imanotsurugi and some of the Awataguchi brothers, who were playing in the snow. After Namazuo eggs Kashuu on with a snowball to the face, the group starts chasing each other around as Kashuu tries to exact revenge. Along the way, Yamatonokami and and Namazuo almost get shot through a door by Mutsunokami's stray bullet while he was playing around with his gun.

When word is received that the History Retrograde Army has appeared at the Ikeda Inn in the year 1864, Yamatonokami is chosen as captain of the combat team, suprising his fellow swords (as it is his first sortie). During the sortie, Yamatonokami recollects his memories of Okita and resolves to fight to be as strong as him. He gives his omamori (a protective item) to Imanotsurugi, but ends up injured himself. Luckily, Kashuu comes to his defense and both are returned home safely.

After being repaired, Kashuu gives Yamatonokami a hairpin to fix his bangs, which were cut raggedly by an enemy sword. Kashuu tells him that he wasn't the only person who looked up to Okita, and playfully tells him not to get cocky.

Kisaragi (如月)[]

Yamatonokami accompanies Kashuu as he tours newcomers Tsurumaru Kuninaga and Doudanuki Masakuni around the citadel.

Yayoi (弥生)[]

  • Yamatonokami and Kashuu are often collectively called Okitagumi (roughly "Okita team/group") due to their primary connection being former swords of Okita Souji. They are the only two Touken Ranbu swords that are Okitagumi.
