Souza Samonji is an uchigatana touken danshi residing in the citadel in Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru.
Souza was forged by Saemonzaburo in the year 1334. Regarded as a sword of conquerors, Souza has been owned by many powerful people, including all three "unifiers of Japan" -- Oda Nobunaga, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
When Souza came under the ownership of Nobunaga, his blade was shortened and he was engraved with a phrase marking the ownership. Souza was horrified by this treatment and claims to have hated Nobunaga since.
When he took human form, the engraving manifested as a large butterfly-like mark on the left side of his chest.
Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru
Souza has been at the citadel for some time before Yamatonokami's arrival.
- Souza is one of 3 Samonjis in Touken Ranbu; there is also Koutetsu Samonji and the small tantou Sayo Samonji.
