Heshikiri Hasebe is a major character in Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru. In Hanamaru he plays the role of the saniwa's attendant, a role he treasures greatly.
Heshikiri was forged by a swordsmith named Hasebe Kunishige in the year 1312. At some point, he belonged to infamous daimyo Oda Nobunaga and, through oft desputed means, eventually came into the posession of the Kuroda clan.
Once, Nobunaga used Heshikiri to kill a young tea servant who made a mistake, thereafter naming him Heshikiri ("forced cutter"). Extremely disappointed, Heshikiri hates recalling this incident and uses it as an example of why he hated Nobunaga.
Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru
Heshikiri has been at the citadel for some time, and has taken on the role as the saniwa's assistant. As such, he speaks with them more often than most and is usually the first sword to find out about new assignments.
Later on, the saniwa alerts him that the History Retrograde Army has appeared to stop the Ikeda Incident in 1894, and gives him a list of swords they want to lead the forces against them. Heshikiri has high hopes that he is part of the team, but is (comedically) heartbroken to find out that he isn't. He straightens up quickly, however, to escort the team out.
When the team returns, he looks over the swords as they heal. After Ishikirimaru gets injured after getting his sword stuck in a wall, Heshikiri decides he must inform the saniwa that ootachis are poor choices for indoor battles.
- Heshikiri is known collectively with (the yet-to-be introduced) Nihongou and Hakata Toushirou as Kurodagumi (Kuroda team/group), due to all having been owned by members of the Kuroda clan.
